U.K. Minister for Science Patrick Vallance sees opportunities for harnessing the NHS as an asset at the same time as improving it by bringing clinical trials to the core of how the health service functions. Leveraging the country’s strengths in patient data, genomics and scientific innovation, the government plans to grow the life sciences sector — assuming it can settle the current crisis over drug pricing.
