Web Site Use Information

We automatically collect Web Site usage information from you when you visit our Web Site. • We have your consent for a specific purpose, such as to establish an account using a credit card. As described above ("Personal Information You Choose to Provide"), some of the credit services we use to collect payments on our behalf have their own privacy policies which may allow them to use your personal information to send their marketing communications to you. If this applies to a transaction, you will be informed before you complete the transaction. • You have registered to participate in an event where we are an organizer in conjunction with a partner or a third party event manager.
  • We provide such information to our subsidiaries, affiliated companies or other trusted businesses or persons for the purpose of processing personal information on our behalf during your relationship with us and in limited ways after your business relationship with us has ended. They will process your information according to their own privacy policies and any other confidentiality and security measures they may institute. Certain vendors and or partners of BioCentury may have privacy policies which permit them to send you marketing information. Please read those privacy policies before proceeding. If you do not agree to those privacy policies, you may not be permitted to continue with the BioCentury order or transaction.
  • We have a good faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of such information is reasonably necessary to (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request, (b) enforce the terms or conditions of the BioCentury User Agreement, including investigation of potential violations thereof, (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, or (d) protect against imminent harm to the rights, property or safety of BioCentury, its customers or the public as required or permitted by applicable law.

Your personal information is not otherwise shared with third parties and is never sold or traded or distributed outside of BioCentury for marketing purposes.

Coordinating Information with Strategic Partners

We may enter into strategic alliances or partnerships with third parties ("Strategic Partners") for the purposes of jointly providing additional products or services. If you choose to provide personal information or consent to the use of existing personal information for the purposes of subscribing to such additional products or services, it may be necessary to share the personal information you provide to us with our Strategic Partners to deliver the product and/or service you have purchased or registered for. These parties may have their own privacy policies, which will govern their use of your personal information. Before proceeding, please read those privacy policies, including provisions, if any, allowing them to use your personal information to send their marketing communications to you.

Corporate Subscriptions and Third Party Sources

If your access to BioCentury’s Products or Services is provided by your employer or a third party, your employer or that third party may provide us with limited amounts of personal information about you to enable your access to the Products and Services. In addition, your employer or the third party may require us to provide them with information about your access to the Products or Services, for example to verify that you are using the Products and Services they have purchased on your behalf. In addition, we may be required to provide your employer or third party with personally identifiable information in order to enforce compliance with the BioCentury User Agreement.

From time to time, we obtain names from third parties that may contain individuals’ personal information. We do not accept names from third parties that do not comply with the privacy laws and regulations that govern the rest of our business, and our use of such personal information is subject to the same permissions and consents as applies to other personal information in our possession.

Choice/Opt Out

BioCentury offers you the choices and means to limit our use and disclosure of your personally identifiable information, and control how we communicate with you. You may, at any time, select to receive or not receive (a) specific BioCentury product emails, (b) BioCentury marketing emails sent on behalf of third parties and (c) all BioCentury marketing emails, including those sent on behalf of third parties. You may also at any time request that (d) BioCentury stop processing your personal data, (e) BioCentury remove any personal data about you from our systems to the extent required by the relevant data protection authority, and (f) BioCentury provide you with an export of the personal data we maintain about you.

BioCentury occasionally collaborates with third parties to provide you with content such as white papers, podcasts and webinars, as well as services, including the opportunity to participate in conferences and other events. To do so, we may share your personal information (limited to your name, email address, title, employer, physical address, and telephone numbers) with these third parties. In these cases, you will not be able to access such content or register to participate in an event unless you agree to this Privacy Policy.

Note, however, if you have consented to the privacy policy of a BioCentury vendor or partner who has the right to market to you, BioCentury cannot opt you out of marketing on behalf of that other vendor or partner.

BioCentury will provide you with a clear, conspicuous, readily available mechanism to exercise these choices. We will take all reasonable steps to honor your request. • Provide service notices regarding Web Site changes, new or existing products, services, special offers, or otherwise contact you
  • Share your information for participation in an event with a partner or third party manager.
  • Process order and payment transactions for you.

From time to time BioCentury’s Products or Web Site may publish notices about events conducted by third parties. In addition, third party advertisers may engage BioCentury to offer the advertisers’ products and services to our customers and prospective customers. We cannot make any representations about the practices, policies, publications or services of these advertisers or other third parties, and your use of such parties’ offers are your own responsibility and are not covered by this Privacy Policy. In addition, we are not responsible for the practices employed by Web sites linked to or from our Web site nor the information or content contained therein. Often links to other Web sites are provided solely as pointers to information on topics that may be useful to the users of our Web Site.

Please remember that when you use a link to go from our Web Site to another Web site, this Privacy Policy is no longer in effect. Your browsing and interaction on any other Web site, including Web sites that have a link to our Web Site, is subject to that Web site’s own rules and policies. Please read those rules and policies before proceeding.

How Do We Secure Information Transmissions?

From time to time, we may offer you the ability to pay for Publications and Services with a credit card using e-commerce software that meets payment card industry data security standards.

Any email that you may send to us may not be secure unless we advise you that security measures will be in place prior to your transmitting the information. For that reason, we ask that you do not send confidential information such as Social Security or credit card account numbers to us through an unsecured email.

How Do We Protect Your Information?

Information Security. Personal information and user-specific settings and preferences are stored using commercially standard database and web site security software. User passwords are saved in encrypted form to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure and accidental loss, alteration or destruction.

Evaluation of Information Protection Practices. Periodically, our operations and business practices are reviewed for compliance with corporate policies and procedures governing the security, confidentiality and quality of our information.

Employee Access, Training and Expectations. Our employees are required to protect confidential third party information in general as a condition of employment at BioCentury, and our business practices limit the use and disclosure of such information, including personal information, to authorized persons, processes and transactions.

Providing, Correcting and Updating Your Information

When you order a Product or Service, we ask you to provide personal information. If you decline to submit this personal information, BioCentury will not be able to provide those Products or Services to you.

This personal information will be used only for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy unless we have obtained your prior consent.

You may modify your Password at any time when logged in to your account by going to the Change Password page in the Settings area on the BioCentury Web Site. This password is stored in encrypted format so that no one else can change it or use it.

You may contact support@biocentury.com to notify BioCentury of changes to your personal information, to review and correct your personal data if they are inaccurate, or to delete such data if it is not otherwise required to be retained by law or for some legitimate business purpose.

To process your requests, we may ask you to provide such identification as we deem necessary to protect your personal information from unauthorized access. Also, we may decline to process requests that are unreasonably repetitive or systematic, require disproportionate technical effort, jeopardize the privacy of others, or would be extremely impractical (for example, requests concerning information residing on backup tapes), or for which access is not otherwise required. In any case where we provide information access and correction, we perform this service free of charge during normal business hours of our headquarters corporate office, except if doing so would require a disproportionate effort.

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, or concerns about the use of your personal information, please direct your inquiry to Corporate Services.
