Blackstone acquires Clarus to scale up risk-sharing life science investments

By operating under the Blackstone umbrella, Clarus Ventures will be able to significantly scale up its risk-sharing investment strategy.

On Oct. 4, private equity firm Blackstone announced plans to acquire Clarus for undisclosed terms. Clarus co-founder and Managing Director Nick Galakatos will lead the new unit, Blackstone Life Sciences.

Clarus has raised $2.6 billion since its launch, a drop in the bucket of Blackstone’s $440 billion under management.
