Studies find shared driver mutations between metastases, precancerous lesions

A pair of studies published this month in Science and Nature could help inform cancer treatment decisions by providing a more nuanced portrait of driver gene mutation heterogeneity between metastatic tumors and between discrete precancerous lesions within individual patients.
In the Science paper, researchers from the Stanford University School of Medicine applied mathematical modeling to whole genome and exome sequences of 76 untreated metastases from 20 patients with a range of solid tumors. ...
