Roche names new Genentech CEO

Roche (SIX:ROG; OTCQX:RHHBY) said Ian Clark will become CEO of Genentech Inc., effective Jan. 1. Clark, who is head of global product strategy for pharma at Roche, will replace Pascal Soriot, who will become COO of Roche's pharma division while remaining a member of Roche's executive committee. Soriot became Genentech CEO May 1, having previously served as Roche's head of commercial operations and global strategic marketing. Clark was EVP of commercial operations at Genentech prior to its acquisition by Roche. He will report to Soriot (See BioCentury Extra, Tuesday, April 14, 2009).

Roche also announced the retirement of Juergen Schwiezer as CEO of the diagnostics division and a member of the executive committee and named Daniel O'Day as COO of the diagnostics division and a member of the executive committee, also effective Jan. 1. O'Day is currently head of the Roche Molecular Diagnostics unit. Also joining the executive committee on the first of the year are Jean-Jacques Garaud, head of pharma development; and Dan Zabrowski, head of pharma partnering. ...
