P-tau correlated with outcomes in TBI
In a paper published in Nature Communications, researchers at Harvard Medical School linked expression of the cis isomer of phosphorylated tau (cis p-tau) with clinical outcomes in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and showed targeting the protein could help treat neuropathology after TBI.
In cerebrospinal fluid from patients with severe TBI, the researchers found that cis p-tau expression was correlated with axonal injury and clinical outcomes as measured by the Glasgow Outcomes Scale.
