Hahn signals new messaging style as he commandeers FDA Twitter account, vaporizes Gottlieb

Stephen Hahn’s tenure as FDA commissioner has begun with a personal dispute with his predecessor over control of a Twitter account.

Sworn in as commissioner on Tuesday, Hahn now has possession of an account previously operated by Scott Gottlieb. Gottlieb’s official account was a key part of his campaign to increase awareness of FDA’s activities. During his tenure in 2017-19, he sent nearly 5,000 tweets, an average of 7.6 per day, to communicate about issues such as the government shutdown, promote vaccination and banter with journalists (see “Gottlieb’s Durable Reforms”)...
