Rubio wants to block U.S. military from buying drugs made in China

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) has introduced an amendment to a defense spending bill that seeks to prevent the U.S. military by 2025 from purchasing pharmaceuticals or pharmaceutical ingredients that are made in China.

The amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 instructs the Department of Defense and the Department of Health and Human Services to cooperate on a report that would include “recommendations to ensure that by 2025 no pharmaceutical products purchased for beneficiaries of health care from the Department of Defense or any associated program are made in part or in whole in China.”...
