AI healthcare companies forming an alliance

Artificial intelligence healthcare companies are forming an alliance to advance and guide the use of AI in healthcare and drug development. The Alliance for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare (AAIH) will act as the industry's advocate in shaping public policy.

AAIH members are using AI for biomedical discovery, clinical research, diagnostics and devices, and precision medicine. Founding members include BenevolentAI (London, U.K.); BlackThorn Therapeutics Inc. (San Francisco, Calif.); the Buck Institute for Research on Aging (Novato, Calif.); Cyclica Inc. (Toronto, Ontario); Envisagenics Inc. (New York, N.Y.); the GE Healthcare unit of General Electric Co. (NYSE:GE); Insilico Medicine Inc. (Baltimore, Md.); NuMedii Inc. (San Mateo, Calif.); Numerate Inc. (San Francisco, Calif.); Owkin Inc. (New York, N.Y.); Recursion Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Salt Lake City, Utah); and the University of Pittsburgh.

The AAIH will meet on Sept. 13 to finalize plans for its first year of operations and will officially launch in January 2019.
