IDSA calls for antimicrobial R&D incentives in PAHPA bill

The Infectious Diseases Society of America released a letter signed by more than 50 organizations urging Congress to include antimicrobial R&D incentives in the Pandemic and All Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA) reauthorization bill. The organizations include biopharma companies, healthcare providers and hospitals.

IDSA and its co-signatories said economic incentives would help offset challenges that companies face in generating return on R&D investment for antimicrobial drugs. They said R&D has "dwindled," and companies are leaving the market...
