CFDA issues import testing rules

China FDA now requires all imported drugs to comply with the China Pharmacopeia (ChP) standards in addition to the registration standards of the exporting country, according to life sciences law firm Sidley Austin LLP. Imports must pass an inspection before customs clearance.

Sidley, which specializes in Asia-Pacific life sciences law, said that importers should "immediately assess and address any discrepancies between their own product standards and the ChP standards." Products not included in the ChP must comply with general ChP standards. ...
