FDA dietary supplement authority upheld

The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit today upheld FDA's authority to classify health claims on dietary supplement labels as drug claims. The ruling allows FDA to hold supplement manufacturers to the much stricter safety and efficacy standards imposed on drugs, and gives the agency discretion to determine which statements should be treated as drug claims. ...
