Amazon, Berkshire, JPM name COO of healthcare company

Comcast Corp. (NASDAQ:CMCSA) General Manager of Digital Health Jack Stoddard started Tuesday as COO of the healthcare venture launched this year by J. P. Morgan (NYSE:JPM), Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE:BRK-A; NYSE:BRK-B) and Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN).

Currently dubbed Health Project, the new venture aims to supplement rather than replace the health insurance the companies provide to their employees, according to the picture painted by J. P. Morgan Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon in an annual letter to shareholders in April. The trio hired Atul Gawande as CEO of Health Project in June. Based on his experience and the cultures of the three companies, Gawande’s first steps are likely to include using technology to change the way employees access care, trying to identify unnecessary or low-value care and looking for ways to standardize common procedures and treatments (see "Gawande's Cheesecake Factory")...
