Siga gets Priority Review voucher for first approved smallpox drug

Siga Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:SIGA) became the first company to gain FDA approval for a smallpox drug and received the first Material Threat Medical Countermeasure Priority Review voucher. Siga gained $1.11 (18%) to $7.35 on Friday when FDA approved TPOXX tecovirimat (oral ST-246) to treat smallpox ahead of the small molecule antiviral's Aug. 8 PDUFA date.
