Inhibiting PGM3 activity for glioblastoma

Inhibiting the phosphoglucomutase PGM3 could help treat glioblastoma by preventing synthesis of hexamine, a substrate for protein and lipid glycosylation that fuels tumor growth.

PGM3 protein expression was higher in tumor samples from patients with glioblastoma, grade II glioma, or grade III glioma than in normal brain tissue from individuals without brain tumors. In bioinformatic analyses of public data sets, PGM3 mRNA expression was higher in patient glioblastoma samples than in normal brain tissue from individuals without glioblastoma. ...
