Targeting the binding of the Streptococcus anginosus surface protein TMPC with the gastric epithelial surface protein ANXA2 could help treat gastric inflammation and prevent gastric cancer by blocking disruption of gastric barrier function and activation of tumorigenic MAPK signaling in epithelial cells.
