Inhibiting keratinocyte FABP5 for psoriasis

Inhibiting keratinocyte expression of the epidermal fatty acid binding protein FABP5 could help treat psoriasis by preventing complex formation between FABP5 and the NF-κB activator VCPs, thus reducing downstream chemokine and cytokine production, and subsequent neutrophil chemotaxis and activation.

In skin samples, FABP5 protein expression was higher for psoriatic patients than healthy individuals. In bioinformatic analyses of public patient data sets, FABP5 gene expression was higher in skin samples from psoriatic patients than samples from healthy individuals.
