University researchers described in Science the tumor-killing effects of antibodies to CTLA-4 administered to mice.

CTLA-4, a homolog of CD28, binds both ligands with much greater affinity than does CD28, inhibiting T cell proliferation. By blocking the inhibitory signals delivered by CTLA-4, the researchers increased T cell responses to tumor cells and enhanced antitumor activity in two experiments. ...
