NIDR researchers reported in Nature Genetics that they have linked a mutation in a growth factor gene to a type of dwarfism characterized by abnormal development of the limbs and limb joints.

The gene encodes the cartilage-derived morphogenic protein-1 growth factor (CDMP-1), which is a member of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) superfamily, and is predominantly expressed at sites of skeletal morphogenesis. ...
