Researchers presented animal data showing that SCID mice, given the blood of human volunteers vaccinated with HGP-30, were protected against challenge with HIV.

As described at the Conference on Clinical Immunology, white blood cells from 5 vaccinated volunteers and from 3 control donors were injected into a total of 80 SCID mice. The animals were challenged with 10,000 infectious doses of a laboratory strain of HIV, different than the strain from which HGP-30 is derived.
