Interim results of a Phase I/II trial of the retinoid were reported at the International Conference on AIDS in Vancouver, showing a partial response (either complete flattening of 50 percent of raised lesions, or area reduction of 50 percent) in 13 (30 percent) of the treated lesions, compared to 4 (9 percent) of untreated lesions. Responses were sustained with median follow-up of 16 weeks, and only 4 of 28 lesions relapsed after a median of 12 weeks of response.
The gel was applied at 0.05 or 0.1 percent concentrations one to four times daily. Similar lesions were selected as untreated controls. Area and height of lesions were measured every two to four weeks. ...
