In an animal model of multiple sclerosis, researchers used peptide analogs of myelin basic protein to reverse symptoms of the disease.

As reported in Nature, researchers showed that the therapeutic effect of the peptides was inhibited in mice with experimental encephalitis by administration of antibodies to IL-4. They concluded that the peptides may induce TH2-type T cells, thereby inhibiting Th1 and TNF-alpha responses, which are associated with inflammation. ...
