NIAID researchers have identified two apoptosis-linked genes in mice, ALG-2 and ALG-3, which are implicated in Alzheimer's disease.

Their article in Science notes that one of the genes, ALG-2, is the first calcium-binding protein shown to be directly involved in programmed cell death, and may mediate calcium-regulated signals along the programmed cell death pathway. ...
