Data on 115 patients with various sites of infection and with bacteremia involving Enterococcus faecium resistant to vancomycin showed that evaluable patients treated with Synercid for more than five days showed a clinical response of 67 percent (40 of 60 patients).
The patients, who had failed all other therapies, had severe underlying conditions, including immunosuppression, prior surgery, and hemodialysis. Results were presented at the Conference on the Macrolides, Azalides and Streptogramins in Lisbon. ...
