Zeneca announced Phase III results in 361 patients with an acute exacerbation of schizophrenia, with equal or better efficacy than haloperidol, a standard treatment, but fewer side effects.
The incidence of extrapyramidal side effects, a hallmark of haloperidol treatment, was no greater after Seroquel than that seen in the placebo group. The adverse effects of the agent were headache, agitation, and a drop in blood pressure on standing up. ...
