Visible Genetics, Amersham International plc, Gene Screen Inc., Molecular Dynamics deal

Amersham and Molecular Dynamics received exclusive rights to sell Visible Genetics's DNA sequencer, microgels and other research market products. Visible Genetics, which retained the right to sell the products to the diagnostic and clinical markets, will receive royalties. Visible Genetics also received rights to sell Amersham's reagents for DNA sequencing and analysis in the diagnostic market.

Amersham (Little Chalfont, U.K.) and Molecular Dynamics (Sunnyvale, Calif.) will jointly invest $5 million in Visible Genetics for a 14 percent ownership. The companies may invest an additional $5 million over the next two years to receive an additional 14 percent of the Toronto company. ...
