GNSA restructured to increase its focus on its commercial operations and to reduce expenses. The company eliminated 35 positions, bringing the total number of employees to 465. The cuts came from the 220 employees at the company's San Diego headquarters, mostly in the clinical research and data management groups. Four corporate officer positions were cut.

Gensia Laboratories Ltd., the company's generic injectable drug business, and Gensia's European operation, weren't affected. The European group is planning to launch in the second quarter the GenESA system, a pharmacological stress agent to diagnose coronary artery disease. ...
