Administration of SCF for seven days in 111 patients enhanced the mobilizing effect of the cytokine G-CSF in the recovery of neutrophils and platelets. Adding 20 or 25 µg/kg/day of SCF significantly enhanced the total CD34+ cell content of leukaphereses on days 5, 6, and 7 of cytokine administration (p<0.05), as reported at the American Society of Hematology meeting in Seattle.

The harvested cells were infused in 80 patients after marrow-ablating chemotherapy. Engraftment times were similar for all groups (10, 15, 20 or 25 µg), at about 9 days for neutrophils and about 12 days for platelets. ...
