Pegylated megakaryocyte growth and development factor data

PEG-MGDF produced substantial increases in platelet counts when given prior to chemotherapy, according to a report by Australian researchers at the American Society of Hematology meeting in Seattle.

Early results from a Phase I trial using the recombinant human protein have been obtained in 11 patients who received the agent before chemotherapy, and in 8 patients who received it after chemotherapy. Four of the 11 patients had increased platelet counts of 95-395 percent over baseline, peaking at 12 to 16 days after the start of drug. ...
