The Seattle company reported that it detected HHV-6 bound to the oligodendrocytes that form the myelin sheath around nerve cells in brains of people who died with MS.

While the virus normally persists in brain - being present in more than 70 percent of both MS cases and controls - the appearance of the virus specifically in the myelin-forming cells was restricted primarily to samples from MS brains, the researchers reported in The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. ...
