Lorcaserin endocrine data

Arena and partner Eisai Co. Ltd. (Tokyo:4523; Osaka:4523, Tokyo, Japan) reported data from 9 obese patients and male rats showing that humans concentrate lorcaserin in the brain to a much lower extent than rats. Specifically, Arena estimated that the mean exposure of the human brain to oral lorcaserin at the clinically tested dose of 10 mg twice daily was 1.7 times the exposure observed in human plasma. In contrast, the exposure of the male rat brain to lorcaserin at which no brain astrocytoma was observed - 10 mg/kg/day - was about 24 times the exposure seen in rat plasma. ...
