University of Toronto researchers presented data showing inhibition of astrocyte proliferation in mice receiving 20 mg/kg of micellar paclitaxel weekly for 4 weeks. ANP noted that astrocytes are involved in myelin breakdown and inhibition of remyelination of nerves after injury.
Separately, University of Alabama researchers reported that micellar paclitaxel blocked the development of clinical signs in rats with experimental allergic encephalomyelitis (EAE), an animal model of MS.
