Hub 101: Taiwan biotech looks to level up

Four companies show how Taiwan is combining global ambition, local capital, and technology strengths to build a biotech hub

At BIO Asia–Taiwan last week, Taiwan Bio Industry Organization Chairman Johnsee Lee pitched the island as an emerging biotech hub whose ecosystem has expanded from a largely domestic base to a growing overseas footprint. Taiwan now aims to become the global biotech industry’s partner of choice and a gateway to Asia.

The conference’s Regional Collaboration Forum, presided over by Taiwan Bio Secretary-General Wallace Lin, underscored that strategy: use partnerships to offset the resource constraints and challenges facing ecosystems that don’t have the oomph of those in China and the U.S...
