Thin evidence underpins Congress' probe of China trial consent

The House Select Committee on China has revived and expanded its probe into U.S. drugmakers' clinical trials in China, adding a new focus on informed consent to longstanding concerns about studies conducted at People's Liberation Army (PLA) hospitals and in Xinjiang.
The select committee’s investigation is consistent with broader congressional concern about Chinese clinical trials. In May, the House Appropriations Committee approved a draft, non-binding report that would bar FDA from “accepting, reviewing, or considering” clinical data supporting IND applications if those data were generated at sites in China, Russia, Iran, or North Korea...
