R&D leadership changes for Sanofi, Revolution

Paulo Fontoura will succeed Houman Ashrafian as head of R&D at Sanofi (Euronext:SAN; NASDAQ:SNY), becoming EVP, global head of R&D pharma on Sept. 1 and joining the company’s executive committee. Ashrafian, who has been in the role since August 2023, is pursuing a new opportunity. Fontoura, a neurologist and physician-scientist, was CMO of Xaira Therapeutics Inc.
Before that, he spent 15 years at Roche (SIX:ROG; OTCQB:RHHBY), rising to become SVP and global head of clinical development for neuroscience, immunology, ophthalmology, infectious and rare diseases.
Steve Kelsey, president of R&D at Revolution Medicines Inc. (NASDAQ:RVMD), will become senior advisor to Chairman, President and CEO Mark Goldsmith as he looks ahead to retirement Jan. 4, 2027. Kelsey has been in the role since 2017. ...
