Megarounds for seven start-ups amid torrent of cash ahead of industry conference
The short period between the holiday season and the start of the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference has once again proven to deliver a burst of venture fundings for biotechs, with at least seven companies drawing at least $100 million apiece, and the sector pulling in more than $2 billion in private capital.
The $305 million series F round for Parabilis Medicines Inc. lifted the start-up’s total venture funding to date above $800 million, with numerous crossovers joining or returning to its syndicate.
