British researchers published in Science a prediction derived from computational simulations that depending on the extent of uptake of genetically engineered herbicide resistant crops, weed populations on managed farms could be reduced to low levels or practically eradicated, which could impact the populations of birds that rely on weed seeds for food. They suggested that uptake of such crops could be affected by current weed infestations and by a history of weed control and willingness to adopt new technology. ...
