Biotech venture tallies in Americas rise; Europe, Asia stuck in neutral

Biotechs in the Americas brought in 32% more in venture money in 1H24 than they did in the second half of 2023, as the number of biotech venture financings stabilized after a 2.5-year slide. Amounts raised were flat in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

At $12.2 billion and $2.4 billion, the totals raised in the Americas and Europe in 1H24 exceed pre-COVID-19 levels, with the Asia-Pacific region trailing at $1.4 billion.
