Oxford Science Enterprises names new CEO, first CIO

Plus: Frías hired as CMO at Biomea Fusion, and updates from Astraveus and Septerna

Oxford Science Enterprises (OSE) named Ed Bussey as CEO and Jack Edmondson as chief investment officer, a newly created role. Bussey takes over about eight months after Alexis Dormandy quietly stepped down as CEO at the start of the year. Dormandy had been CEO since October 2020. Most recently, Bussey was CEO of tech company Quill and has experience as an early-stage tech investor. Edmondson joins OSE from Oxford University Endowment Management, where he was deputy CIO. Last year, OSE raised £250 million ($298.7 million) and invested £160 million across its portfolio. 

Cancer and metabolic disease company Biomea Fusion Inc. hired Juan Frías as CMO, succeeding Steve Morris, who will transition to the new role of chief development officer. Frías was president of clinical and medical affairs, diabetes care at Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), and held roles at Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE:LLY), Amylin Pharmaceuticals and Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE)...
