March 8 Quick Takes: Blackstone backs DNAnexus with $200M

Bioinformatics company DNAnexus Inc. raised $200 million in a funding round led by funds managed by Blackstone Growth to support the growth of its multi-omics data platforms. The company collects and interprets genomics, multi-omics and clinical trial data that can feed into drug development programs. Existing investors Northpond Ventures, GV, Perceptive Advisors, Innovatus Capital Partners and Foresite Capital also participated in the round.

Novalis LifeSciences led an $80 million series B round for  Sherlock Biosciences Inc. to support development of the company’s decentralized diagnostic platform for DNA and RNA detection. Among disclosed investors in the round, new investors Illumina Ventures, Albany Capital and Catalio Capital Management joined existing backers Northpond Ventures and Good Ventures to bring to $111 million the company’s total funding raised to date.
