U.K. to apply COVID response strategy to other diseases through Life Sciences Vision

The U.K. government is looking to capitalize on the successes of the country’s pandemic response, such as the Vaccines Taskforce and RECOVERY study, and apply those same principles more broadly as part of a 10-year “Life Sciences Vision” plan.

The strategy has seven specific missions it expects to achieve in the 10-year timeframe: accelerate the development of new dementia therapies; enable early cancer diagnosis and immunotherapy treatment; sustain the U.K.’s focus on vaccine discovery, development and manufacturing; treat and prevent cardiovascular disease and its contributing factors such as obesity; reduce the mortality and morbidity of respiratory diseases; address the underlying biology of aging; and gain a better understanding of mental health diseases and the tools needed to treat them...
