Vectors for transfer of the gene for thymidine kinase data

Interim results of GTII's brain tumor trial showed that five of eight patients, who all had failed conventional therapies, had measurable antitumor response with the gene therapy. Three of the five patients showing a positive response have had both a decrease in tumor size and a change in tumor consistency on MRI scans. Clinicians consider acute changes in MRI consistency to indicate a positive response to the treatment, according to GTII.

GTII presented the interim data at the 10th International Conference on Brain Tumor Research and Therapy in Stalheim, Norway. The trial is testing a gene that renders tumor cells susceptible to the antiviral drug gancyclovir. ...
