IPIC reported that a dose of 15 mg twice daily caused reduction in body weight with acceptable side effects, as compared to a dose of 30 mg and a dose of 5 mg, in a study in obese people weighing an average of 150 percent of ideal body weight.

Presenting the data at the North American Association for the study of Obesity in Milwaukee, the company said weight loss in the 82 patients at this dose averaged 11 pounds after 12 weeks of use compared to 4 pounds in the 85 people taking placebo. Weight loss at the 5 mg dose was insignificant compared to placebo, while side effects at the 30 mg level included dizziness, mild diarrhea, dry mouth, and frequent urination. ...
