Activase tissue plasminogen activator data

GNE's tPA, given up to 24 hours after the first symptoms of heart attack, showed a significant drop in 35-day mortality for a subgroup of patients treated from 6 to 12 hours after symptom onset.

The results of the LATE trial (Late Assessment of Thrombolytic Efficacy) were presented last week at a symposium sponsored by the New York Cardiological Society. Mortality for patients treated from six to 12 hours was 8.9 percent versus 11.97 percent with placebo at 35 days, a 25.6 percent reduction in death rate (p=0.0229) .
