AFMXF published a new method to generate and screen chemical compounds, including peptides that incorporate the unnatural d-isomer amino acids, in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

The technique uses microscopic beads as a support for synthesis of peptides, and simultaneously, a tag of oligonucleotides that encoded the peptide sequence generated. A cell sorter is used to separate individual beads bearing the molecules that turn out to have high affinity for a specific target, such as an antibody.
