Publication of research using CHIR's bDNA assay found virus-associated RNA in 74 percent of 102 patients enrolled in clinical trials of anti-retroviral and immune-based therapies.
A p24 assay, by contrast, detcted viral protein in 60 percent of the patients, as reported in the Journal of Infectious Diseases. A subset of 56 patients were tested by both blood culture and the bDNA assay, with 89 percent positive by bDNA and 61 percent by culture. ...
