APG announced that Virafy and ViraFlow identify concentrations of HIV-infected cells as low as 1 in 10,000 cells and do so in 90 minutes, compared to the available P24 antibody assays.
As presented at a workshop in Modern Methods in Analytic Morphology in Orlando, Fla., the ViraFlow assay had 100 percent accuaracy compared to PCR in 34 patient samples. Virafy detected HIV in patient samples in culture seven days earlier, on average, than the P24 antibody assays. ...
