Complement inhibiting proteins data

In a first step in transgenic organ transplants, a pig heart expressing complement-inhibiting proteins was transplanted into a primate, achieving a 19-hour delay in hyperacute rejection, DNXX announced at the Strategies for Successful Xenotransplantation conference in Washington, D.C.

The primate's immune system was not altered, the company reported, and a relatively low expression of the "painted" proteins by the pig organ was able to delay onset of rejection to 19 hours, compared to 40 minutes or sooner in historical controls. ...
