Astenose data

GLYC (Alameda, Calif.) released data showing that Astenose significantly reduced restenosis in baboons that received a continuous infusion of 24mg/kg/day of drug for 30 days. Reductions in restenosis ranged from 50-75 percent.

In the group treated with Astenose for 7 days and examined 23 days later, the proliferative response within vessel walls wasn’t significantly decreased compared to controls. However the data suggested an increase in the internal diameter of the vessels. The positive finding was unanticipated and suggests that the drug may cause some remodeling of the vessel walls, a hypothesis that needs to be confirmed. Twenty animals were tested. ...
