BBIOY (Oxford) reported in Nature that hydroxamic acid inhibitors of metalloproteinase enzymes can prevent the release in vitro of mature TNF protein from leukocytes. The agents also blocked the release of TNF-alpha into the circulation of endotoxin-challenged rats. Immunex Corp. (IMNX, Seattle) published similar findings in Nature in July. ...
